Description
HUGE FILE IS HUGE!
Okay, first off, I'd like to say that this is probably the most difficult thing I ever drew. EVER.
AND this is also my entry to the contest is holding, called "Let it snow": the theme is to draw a fan art that will present our favourite characters interacting with snow.
And of course, I chose to represent a scene from my favourite movie, The Lion King : Mufasa shows Simba his future kingdom.
And since there had to be snow in it, I decided to change the environment, from the usual african warm colours, to the cold ones of a northern region.
And I also changed the famous quote "Everything the light touches" to "Everything the Northern light touches", as a reference to aurora Borealis, typical of northern, snowy climates.
Now on to serious business:
This is my first attempt to watercolour after a LONG time. And what made it even harder, was the fact that I didn't use actual watercolours: I used my trusty and everlasting Caran d'Ache pencils, and would you know, they are water-soluble!
Anyway, I also used actual penciol strokes where it was needed, and white acrylic paint too (for the stars and the snow on trees mainly).
About Simba and Mufasa, God! haven't drawn them for so long! I didn't expect to get them so close to the original I'm very happy with how they came out.
So, after this endless pile of words, I'd say I'll leave you to the credits
I hope you like this piece, and wish me luck for the contest!
-Watercolour pencils on A3 paper
-Scanned multiple times, then mounted on Photoshop CS3

Amazing! I love how you used the idea to change the environment to snow, the complete opposite from the Serengeti. But I must say both Mufasa and Simba are coloured strangely. They have blue on their fur, and Simba's neck doesn't have the natural curve. The sky it is very beautiful with the northern lights, the way you have shaped it is perfect! The way you have included the paw prints is a great thought. As Simba in the film runs off to the right side to take a glace at the northern border where he is forbidden to go. Even though really it would be the southern border. lol
