Africa! Sorry for the lateness, I'm just back from an uni exam, and I'm hyped cause I passed it XD

Anyway, can't say Paa is as hyped as me. The poor thing barely has the strength to raise his head and look around before collapsing again.

This was a very touching mother-son moment for me to draw. In this comic, animals don't "cry" like humans. The drip of blood going over Paa's eye is as close as it gets to a "tear" how we interpret it. I wanted it to represent his state of mind without words. I haven't focused properly on Nadira for ages, it was just about time she got some screen moments.

Despite everything, Paa is still her big baby <3

So then, I'll say it once here, and I'll never say it again.

Hey Arven! I started rereading a couple parts of this comic, and this page actually made me cry so I thought if any were worth me writing a huge drawn out critique (they all are), this would be the one.
So!

Vision
So, your pages are always gorgeous. From the gentle coloring to the details you add to the foreground, seeing your art always gets me in a good mood. I will say, however, the necks on both gazelles (I believe that's what they are, I can't quite remember) do look a bit gangly and stretched out in the fourth and fifth panel. I'm not an expert on gazelle anatomy, but they do seem a bit long. That being said, I absolutely adore your work with the foggy background. Both that and the way you drew the blood on Paa's face and horn really stand out to me, and they're both elements that I really enjoy.

Originality
I gave you five stars because of two main reasons:
A. I feel like mother/son scenes aren't something seen a lot, especially in comics like these. I really enjoy parental relationships in general, but I feel like there isn't a big focus. So kudos to you for both featuring one, and making it feel very genuine.
B. While I know there are a lot of scenarios where the confident guy loses what makes him feel confident, I don't think there are many that have this sort of context around it. An unwinnable competition that leads to a character hurting someone around them, even though I'm sure it's been done before, you make it feel very fresh and new.

Technique
You've heard this from everyone before, so I'll keep it short. Your work with colored pencils is always breathtaking, and something that I admire a lot. The only problem I have with it is very nitpicky, and it's just that occasionally when using the pens for lining they don't fade very well- I've used ink before, so I understand they're not made for fading. I just feel my eyes being drawn to the small rock on the left hand side of the last panel that looks transparent, and there are a couple spots like that. AGAIN- I know it's not really an issue you can fix, and just comes with the median, I just thought I'd point it out.

Impact
I said before, this page made me cry. You do so well at putting emotions on these damn gazelles and I have so admiration for you because of that. I really enjoyed seeing your linework on this page, especially panel 3, because you seem to have a way with getting the pure emotion through your lines.

Overall, I love the comic, and this page is definitely one of my personal favorites.
