Africa!

A silent page. I really wanted to emphasize the similarities between Nadira and Africa's situations here.
Both their lives have been influenced and turned upside down by Chui, and now both fear for the future of their children.
Most importantly, their relationship seems to have come to a definitive end, as Africa finally walks away from her territory and out into unexplored land.

Drawing the baobab in the last panel was a good challenge!

Enjoy!

I've been expecting a new page for this fantastic comic of yours to get posted today, and here it is, totally worth the wait!

Africa and Nadira... The silence fits this page perfectly. Great work on making it so powerful without any words, I'm glad you did this. Sometimes the silence does it fairly better than any words would. I just love the third and fourth panels! The way the two poor creatures whose lives have been turned upside down look adds a great plus to the impact! And I see the message!

The technique. Great as always! I see that you try your best while coloring the pages. The pale colours of this add the big plus to the sadness and sorrow in this page. I also like how you use bolder lines to pick out the focal figures, so we can clearly see the ones we should pay attention to at the moment. And the rain, fantastic! Drawing rain properly is pretty hard and where a lot of people may fail.

I am interested in what will happen next, to see what Africa is going to do in these completely unexplored lands. And I wonder if this baobab is going to have any meaning. Anyways, the tree looks majestic! Can't wait for more!

This page is extremely well made and even without dialogue it conveys a strong message. I love the use of the fog and the rain to show that things are changing and nothing will be the same, and the uncertainty of the future.

I love the comparison between Nadira and Africa in the 3rd and 4th panels, and the fact that she's watching Africa and her cubs leave the territory.

The coloring is amazing, like always, and the use of the duller colors really brings everything together. However, the cub's face in the 4th panel seems a little wonky. The right side of his face seems too far in for the size of the eyes, and it looks like his face is looking to the right while his eyes are positioned like his head is facing forward.

The Baobab in the last panel is amazing. I just love how it dwarfs everything else, in both size and majesty. The fog around the base makes it seem like it's more of a mirage, in a sense. It looks like a good thing, but once you get closer, it's not.

All in all, it's an A+ page

What a deeply beautiful, well achieved and tragic scene, Arven!!!
This is sheer delight for the eyes...the murky and dank environment, the heavyness of the characters' emotions, that frame with the bright stare of a defeted and conflicted Africa, and in opposition (and yet strange twining) Nadira's blind gaze...
THIS IS SIMPLY GENIUS...

Nice silence, by the way. The soundless pages are very emotional

Me parte el corazón esos paneles dividiendo la cara de África y Nadira. Lo hiciste tan, pero tan bien, que siento un dolor en el pecho con sólo verlo. Me da mucha intranquilidad y desasosiego. No quiero que se quiebre esa amistad, ojala Nadira no muera antes de que África pueda siquiera darle un adiós... Aunque... Observando este desafortunado evento... siento que un reencuentro será casi imposible (más leyendo la descripción :'( ).

Amo a Nadira!!!!

Love

Interesting page. Nice idea with that 2face-1face.

And LOL. My first idea, when I saw Africa in front of that tree was: "Oh my goooood! Next scene Rafiki will appear and teach her Hakuna Matata, since Rafiki also lifes on such a tree. XDDD"

"Drawing the baobab in the last panel was a good challenge." Yeah. That was the challenge. Not the rain, the ambience, the silhouettes in the distance, the grey landscape as though you're literally stood RIGHT THERE in that cold harsh scene.

Just goes to show, practise makes perfect.

Great work on that babo- .. baobo- ...... Great work on that boboa- ....

Absolutely fantastic! I honestly love symbolic stuff, an' this page speaks volumes and opens up a new chapter in the lives of all the characters in the story, perhaps most opened for the two this page is focusing on. Not only is the method of symbolism great, but the page itself looks amazing! One of my most favorite pages thus far!
Again, great work, Arven! Excited to see where things go from here! :D

Once again, amazing! It seems like that will be the end of Nadira's time in the comic (or is it?)...

But the tree looks great!

EDIT: Actually, now I'm thinking about how Mosi is feeling and if he's blaming himself. After all, if he listened and didn't run off, he wouldn't have run into Chui and this whole thing wouldn't have happened....

This entire page speaks volumes without saying a word.

I am especially impressed with Panels Three and Four. The sons are sad, and the mothers are disappointed. And the poor little leopard cub (his name escapes me right now!). He's wishing he could do or say something that would make his mother happy again, but he's afraid of how she would react right at this very moment. Better for him to stay silent... for now.

Oddly enough... I want to do a critique, but it directs me to an earlier page for some reason.

Oh, well... Keep dong what you're doing!

Yeah, I mean the art, artistic style, and sheer amount of talent are amazing, but story-wise I just feel like Africa is stronger (and just all around more interesting).

Though to be fair ARVEN probably just enjoys doing C.H.A.K.R.A. more, which is totally fine considering the most important thing in a comic (or anything else for that matter) is that the creator/artist enjoys themselves while doing it :)

I love how you put together the third and fourth panel with the same composition :) It makes the scene incredibly powerful and we can just feel the characters' hopelessness! Good job on that!

I don't know why, but Mosi's expression reminds me somehow of TLK, Simba looked like that when Mufasa told him off for making a trip to the hyenas... but it is a totally irrelevant remark and takes away nothing from the artwork, it deserves ten out ten!

That is a beautiful Baobab tree. No trees where I live even come close to being that big. I wish I've seen the redwoods in the eastern U.S. It must be amazing to see giant trees like that in person.
Poor Nadira and her son. I'm sure he'll still be able to protect himself alright and find a mate okay. Especially since they live in herds and all. He can still run fast.
